Hamster Facts

Hamsters' teeth never stop growing, so they chew constantly to keep them trim.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Hamsterdome! This is where I keep my projects, my research, a few homemade games, and an unreasonable number of hamsters. I've definitely gone full ham(ster) on this website.

Take a look around, click some links, and come back soon!

✧ Hamster Arcade ✧

Hammy Dash: jump over water bottles, food bowls and the occasional owl. Seeds are worth bonus points!
Hammy in Space: tap to fire the thruster and squeeze through an asteroid field.
Tube Run: race through a hamster tube floating in space. Walk up the walls, jump the gaps, and don't fall out. Best played with your phone sideways.

All the games, plus Bit Muncher, Purl Logic, the mystery and your high scores, are in the Hamster Arcade.

✧ Time Machine ✧

Boot a real old computer in your browser: Windows 95, Mac OS 8.1, a Commodore 64, or Unix V6 from 1975.

(they take a minute to boot; powered by v86, Infinite Mac, the Internet Archive, and Russ Cox's V6 emulator)

The C64 boots straight into BASIC. Try 10 PRINT "HAMMY!" : GOTO 10, then RUN, or follow my step-by-step guide.

Unix V6: log in as ken or dmr (the password is the name), then my field guide shows you around, including how to play chess against Ken Thompson's program.

Heads up: these work best on a computer. They're hard to use on a phone.

★My websites: gwark.dev (small browser tools, no accounts), StartIpsum (startup opportunities for students) and StrippedRecipes (just the ingredients & steps, no life story)

★Computer history: my computer museum, plus a processor timeline and family trees of programming languages and operating systems
